Saluting the Armed Forces of Pakistan

Recently there has been a planned propaganda against the armed forces of Pakistan in international media that they are incapable of defending their country and especially nuclear arsenals. One can understand if this propaganda is hyped by the enemies of Pakistan that why they are doing so but unfortunately our own politicians and media are spreading this misconception (not able to defend country and nuclear weapons) among the people of Pakistan and by doing so they are also helping the enemies of Pakistan in some way. They do not have the vision of this problem that if they continue to malign Pakistan’s armed forces then what impact it can have on country. Armies can never succeed in any war without the support of their nation and same is the case with us. We have to support our armed forces in order to fight these terrorists and our other enemies.

Before going further, let me first list some of the sacrifices made but our forces which will show that they are the ones who are fighting against our enemies. It’s not the politicians or the media who is fighting this war. Both have failed to deliver their responsibilities. It’s the armed forces of Pakistan which are ensuring the safety of these politicians and media. Some of the attacks on our armed forces are:

1.    13th September 2007: 20 commandoes embraced martyrdom in a suicide attack on army officer’s mess in Tarbela Ghazi.
2.       24th November, 2007: 28 men of ISI were martyred in a suicide attack on ISI bus.
3.   21st August, 2008: 70 people embraced martyrdom in two suicide attacks on Pakistan Ordinance Factory (POF) Wah Cantt.
4.    14 and 25 Dec, 2008: Attack on former President of Pakistan General Pervez Musharaf in which 20 people   were martyred including armed personnel.
5.      27th August, 2009: 22 armed forces personnel were martyred in a suicide attack during aftar time.
6.    10th October, 2009: An attack on GHQ took life of 22 people including 5 SSG commandoes.
7.  24th May, 2011: An attack on PNS, Mahran, Karachi in which were 12 personnel were martyred.

This list goes on. Thousands of personnel from our armed forces have sacrificed their lives against these enemies of Pakistan (whether it is Talibans or any other country). But in return what are they getting today? A bad reputation from our so called politicians and free media. I remember when one reporter of private TV channel was killed in a blast, they gave him coverage for more than 50 days and each day they cried by countdown that why the culprits so far have not been arrested. Is there any media channel in Pakistan which highlights the losses of armed forces in the same way? Some media reporters and anchors only praise armed forces when they are attacked and forget everything the next day. My request to them is that if you cannot praise their sacrifices on daily basis then please do not malign them as well.

Next I thank my beloved politicians. No country needs outside enemies if they have politicians like Pakistan have in its parliament.  They are so much sincere to Pakistan that the day USA attacked Abbottabad they were busy in making new political coalitions just to ensure the safety of their own agenda of ruling Pakistan. Right now Pakistan does not have a foreign minister which is a very key post for any country. How can we communicate our policies to others when we do not have this person? The day PNS was attacked, our defence minister was not in Pakistan and his absence from Pakistan’s soil was based on political grounds. He was not on a foreign mission to serve Pakistan and even after this attack there is no statement by him so far. Our National Assembly Speaker was not in Pakistan for many days due to political issues with her own political party. What else we can expect from these so called Parliamentarians? Those who got elected due to more than 300 million fake votes are running this country. Those who do not have any experience and vision of making foreign policy, how to run a country, how to fight terrorism and so many other things are deciding the fate of this nation.

To my understanding, these politicians and media person (not all) are not doing anything which will be better for our armed forces and even for Pakistan in longer run. They are creating mistrust between our armed forces and common people and this is what is required by our enemies. Of course once this mistrust is created, any enemy can attack Pakistan and then it will be difficult for our armed forces to defend our soil without the support of nation. I am not saying here that they are playing in the hands of enemies or they have a secret mission or they are traitors, it’s just that they do not have any vision to understand things.

Our armed forces have already sacrificed enough for the security of this country and they are still doing so and I have no doubt that they will continue to do so. Our politicians should understand this thing that those who are guarding their country in hot and cold weathers are sacrificing more than those who are sitting in AC rooms and getting millions of rupees without even having appropriate experience or knowledge of what they are doing. We should solute our armed forces and stay behind them. As long as they are there, our country, this nation and our assets including nuclear are in SAFE hands.

Division of Nation on War on Terror: Who is Responsible?

Till today Pakistan has sacrificed approximately 35,000 people including both civilians and armed forces personnel in war on terror. Besides these sacrifices, Pakistan also faced economic losses in billions of dollars and still our nation is divided over this issue of terrorism. People are arguing that whether this war is our war or America’s? Is Pakistan army killing its own people (Taliban)? Thing to understand here is that who is responsible for this division of nation? Why can’t we produce a one point agenda against this war or Talibans? Is army responsible for this? If not who else?

Well to my understanding, people of Pakistan follow any of these three entities. (1) Religious ulemas (2) Politicians (3) Armed forces. The blame should be on any of these three forces but who. I think that FIRST our ulemas (not all) have not played their due role. They have not categorically denied actions of Talibans. They do condemn their acts publically but we all know that they have relationships with them. Why can’t ulemas of Pakistan sit together and present a joint FATWA against Talibans that whatever they are doing is wrong and whoever will support them either physically, financially or spreading their views is also doing wrong. Some sects do deny the acts of these terrorism but not all. In Pakistan, there are still ulemas who are not shunning Talibans. They are also responsible for this bloodshed of 35,000 martyrs if they are not denying their acts.

Second force which needs to be blamed is our politicians. They are all doing politics on this serious issue which is a threat to the existence of Pakistan. Our parliament has no strategy against this war. What they know is only to get bullet proof cars for themselves, security for their families and making money. They have no interest in this that how many people are dying or how miserable people are due to this war.

Third force which people of Pakistan follow is our armed force. Earlier our armed forces were much respected among the eyes of common people. But now from few years back, they have been pushed to the wall and a gap is being created deliberately between nation and armed forces. I will not totally blame Pakistan army for whatever is happening in Pakistan because what can armed forces of a country do if their own politician and religious leaders are not with them? Armed forces do not unite nations, it’s the politicians and religious leaders who unite them and in Pakistan’s case they have failed to do this. Situation gets worsened when we come to know that there are Taliban minded people in armed forces as well. But once again who is responsible for that? Answer is our ulemas. I believe that if all sects of Islam (Shia, barelwi, Deobandi, Ahle Hadith etc) in Pakistan sit together and decide that no maulwi or aalim from their sect will support these Talibans in anyway; nation will get united against these people. Of course a society in which people love their religious leaders to this extent that they would like to die for them they will obviously listen to their spiritual leaders if they ask them to stay away from Talibans or their acts or their ideology.

Therefore, it is the responsibility of our Ulema and politicians to come clear on this issue of war on terror. They should send a united message to nation and should work for a clear and common strategy. Army will win this war only if nation is united and supporting them and this is not possible without the active role of politician and religious leaders.

WERE OUR ARMED FORCES REALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR NEGLIGENCE ON OPERATION GERONIMO?

Just like my all other Pakistani brothers and sisters, I was also shocked when I heard the news that Pakistan armed forces and intelligence agencies did nothing in Operation Geronimo. I also raised many questions which I mentioned in my previous article (to read my previous article please go to this link: ). Through my article I asked from the chief of armed forces that why they let a foreign force to attack on our sovereignty. But now as picture is getting clear we have answers to some of our questions.

Question 1 was about how American helicopters entered Pakistan without being noticed? Explanation which was given by ISPR seems to be logical if it is true what they are saying and I believe that it is true. Pakistan is not facing any threat from Afghan border and therefore much of our radar system was placed on border with India. Besides

Question 2 was that when armed forces knew about foreign helicopters on their soil why didn’t they respond? Explanation offered by ISPR is that COAS called Air Chief and informed him about helicopters. Air chief ordered his men to shoot those helicopters. But when our night vision jet fighters reached Abbottabad, Americans had already finished the operation and they had already gone back.

After these explanations, some of my Pakistani brothers and sisters are still questioning their armed forces for many things like:

Operation lasted for 40 minutes so how it is possible that our jets did not reached at time? Well to my understanding, this operation did not last for 40 minutes. It was only a few minutes operation. As from the new media reports and from US president office, OSAMA BIN LADEN was unarmed. Only one guard from OSAMA’s compound fired which was immediately shot. No other person fired even OSAMA BIN LADEN did not fired as he was unarmed. Now how is it possible that American armed force personnel especially commandoes kept fighting with a single person for 40 minutes? How much ammunition OSAMA had in his compound? Who had more ammunition? OSAMA or American armed forces personnel?

My second argument is that Americans also used bombs which make a person unmoving (according to some media reports). So how is it possible that all of them were not moving and at the same time firing at armed personnel? Therefore I would conclude this point by saying that operation only lasted for few minutes. By the way there is another report from US media that operation Geronimo lasted for only three minutes. This explains that when our fighter jets reached there American helicopters were already back.

Some of Pakistani people are also saying that our armed forces are incapable and same thing can happen to our nuclear assets. Well to make them clear about this thing, there is huge difference between a home and nuclear installation. Security levels are much higher. Americans do not even know where are our nuclear arsenals (according to US’s own media reports) so how they can bomb those places?

Another propaganda by few of the people is that when we are paying so much to army then why they do not have best technology in the world. Answer to this is very simple if one wants to understand. Our major threat is India so our whole technology is India centric. This time it was a world super power that has such kind of technology which no other country has. Take the example of stealth helicopters used in this operation. Besides this high-tech radars have a life of 9 years at most and they need overhauling after three years. These radars are very expensive and a country like Pakistan cannot afford such technology.

At the end I would like to address those especially US and Indian officials who are maligning our intelligence agency that they are incapable. Well for them, I would say that where were they when CIA failed to even get a hint of 9/11? Was CIA incapable? Similarly, where was RAW when Mumbai attacks happened? Was RAW incapable? If YES then why they do not accept it first? ISI is not GOD that they will know each and everything but at the same time I will say that they are very powerful and OSAMA BIN LADEN would have never been traced if ISI was not capable enough.

Our armed forces are doing best which they can do in their budget so we should support them in this hour of need because we are living in a free country because of them. Otherwise who knows what will happen if our armed forces and intelligence agencies become like President and Prime Minister Houses.

Explanation Required by the People of Pakistan from Chief of Army Staff and Intelligence Chief

I was a strong supporter of Pakistan Army and Intelligence agency (ISI) and most probably will remain so (because of my emotional attachment). But I have to say that from last few months I have not even a small clue that how our army and intelligence agency is defending our country. They are making blunders which can bleed us heavily in future. Recently few such incidents occurred which forced me to write about this.

1.     Raymod Davis: Entire world knew that he was not a diplomat and he killed two citizens of Pakistan and even that not in self defence. Only GOD knows what he was up to. But what happened to him? He enjoyed a good time in jail of Pakistan and later on he was allowed to move to USA even without passport. What was our army and agencies doing at that time? Why he was allowed to leave the country when his case was in court? It seems foolish to think that our army and ISI had nothing to do with it. How it is possible that army or ISI chiefs had nothing to do with it when almost every top level decision is endorsed by them. People of Pakistan have the right to know that what exactly happened in Raymond Davis case.

2.     Death of Osama Bin Laden: Pakistan’s stance on Osama Bin Laden was that he is not in our territory. Now all of a sudden he was killed by CIA operatives in Abbottabad, Pakistan. A city which is hub of Pakistan military besides GHQ, Rawalpindi. There are many questions which need to be answered by the government of Pakistan and especially the heads of most powerful institutions of Pakistan (Army and ISI). The most important question to be answered is that how Osama Bin Laden succeeded in finding a hideout under the nose of army and ISI?

3.      Sovereignty: Where is the sovereignty of Pakistan? What was the oath of army and ISI chief when they were appointed? Aren’t they under the oath that they will protect their homeland from all external threats at any cost? If so then what were they doing when USA personnel completed a major operation near Pakistan Military Academy (PMA)? Why there is no official statement from ISPR that what and how this operation was conducted and above all who conducted this operation? If Pakistan was not involved in this operation then who will guarantee that tomorrow any other country will not act in the same way? Can we trust our army and intelligence agencies that they are capable of defending us?

I would like to suggest to the heads of ISI and Pakistan army that please come forward and explain to the nation that what really happened in these incidents. Take your nation into confidence because they will fight and die for you. USA or any other country will never come to help you. We have tested them again and again. Do not betray your people, they are your real ASSETS...Remembers what your predecessor said: FRIENDS BUT NOT MASTERS
